Today I thought I would do a get unready with me / night skin care routine post for you as it has been highly requested on my snapchat. If you don’t follow me on there, go follow me 😉 My snap name is emily.r0see. I post heaps of swatching videos, face mask videos, makeup stuff, you know, all the good stuff!
It’s now winter here in Australia and I don’t know about you guys but when it’s winter, my skin goes a little more drier than usual so I like to have a really good night routine that will help keep it hydrated throughout the night. If you want to see how I take my makeup off and how I keep my face looking and feeling hydrated and clean, please keep on reading. 🙂
I always start off by removing my eye makeup. I like doing this because when I go in to take my face makeup off, any eye makeup that was left behind I can easily remove when taking my face makeup off, if that makes sense?
To remove my eye makeup, I use my absolute favorite product – Garnier 2 in 1 Express Eye Makeup Remover and some makeup removing pads I just get from the grocery store.
I take a small amount of the product onto the pads and very gently rub in small motions back and forth, focusing mainly on my lash line. This helps break down the mascara better and makes it easier to wipe the product off, not leaving a black smudge everywhere (we’ve all been there). I only need one pad per eye if I only have mascara on, but if I have full eye makeup on (eyeshadow, eyeliner), I go back over with another pad.
After the eye makeup is all removed, I then go onto removing the rest of my makeup. I personally prefer to use Coconut Oil to remove my makeup, but I have used the Garnier Micellar Water which also works wonders. The reason I prefer coconut oil is because I feel it breaks down all my makeup and doesn’t leave a gross feeling afterwards. It’s also really good for your skin, leaving it feeling extremely soft and smells amazing!
I start off by taking some coconut oil onto the tip of my fingers and gently rubbing it into my skin in circular motions. I feel going in circular motions helps bring your makeup off better and you’re not being to rough on your skin. I let it soak for 15 seconds and then I take a makeup removing pad and gently wipe the oil off. It only takes me two removing pads to remove all the makeup/oil off of my face.
Even though the coconut oil removes my makeup really well, I still like to go over my face with a makeup wipe. The wipes I use and love are the Neutrogena Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes. These wipes are so soft and don’t have a really strong scent like most wipes do. I just take one wipe and go over my whole face just to remove any makeup that didn’t come off with the coconut oil.
After removing my makeup, I wash my face and put a face mask on. The face wash I use is the CROP Gentle Cleansing Gel. I did a drugstore haul post a few weeks ago where I mentioned this product and so far I am absolutely loving it.
I take a small amount of product onto the tip of my fingers and gently rub it into my skin in circular motions. Once I have applied it all over my face, I take a wash cloth and warm water and wash it off.
For the mask, I use the CROP Purifying Facial Mud Mask. I’m not sure how I feel about this yet but I’m going to keep using it anyway. I have ordered some Glamglow masks so I am super excited to receive them!
Because I have nails I apply this with a makeup brush. I only put this mask on my problem areas such as my cheeks, around my nose and on my nose and a small amount on my chin. I leave this on for 15 minutes and then wash it off with again, a wash cloth and warm water.
The last step in my night routine is moisturiser! Always moisturise your skin, even if you have oily skin, find a moisturiser that is oil control. It’s the most important step in my opinion.
I use my beloved Cetaphil Daily Advance Ultra Hydrating Lotion and apply it all over my face and onto my neck. I let it soak in for 5 – 10 minutes and then taking the coconut oil again, I apply that using my ring finger underneath my eyes, being extremely gentle because under your eyes are really delicate. I love using coconut oil for my eye cream! It has made such a big difference and really hydrates it. If you can’t afford an eye cream, definitely try this!
And that is it for my night skin care routine! This routine has helped so much and I always wake up with fresh and hydrated skin! I hope you all enjoyed reading this post, if you did please give it a like!
